Spatial distribution of water hyacinth around Lake Tana

The spatial and temporal distribution of the water hyacinth was studied using a high-resolution satellite data (August 2017 to April 2018) to understand the major factors determining the weed dynamics in the Lake Tana. The result indicated that the length of shoreline infested by the weed increased from 4.3 km in August 2017 to 23.4 km in April 2018 and the aerial coverage was affected by weather.
